Planning a trip or upcoming weekend getaway and looking for some incredible Airbnb Yellowstone rentals? Excellent decision!
Yellowstone National Park has a flair for natural theatre. Geysers shoot steam hundreds of feet into the air, snow falls thick and heavy, mud pots boil, and grizzlies roam free and wild. It’s an enormous chunk of nature, and one of the wildest, least-trodden places in the country.
Visitors to the world’s first national park can hike, cycle, ski, and snowmobile their way along almost 1,000 miles worth of trails. You can also paddle on expansive lakes, discover epic waterfalls, and find magical, multi-colored springs.
It’s a wonderland of snow and steam, and a paradise for a vast array of wildlife, including bison, wolves, and moose to name a few.
But I probably needn’t convince you of the joys of this wondrous destination since you’re looking for a Yellowstone Airbnb, where you can rest your head between adventures. Fortunately, there’s no shortage of options, and I’m here to share the ones that truly stand out.

Best Places to Stay Near Yellowstone National Park
While there are several accommodation options inside Yellowstone National Park, they tend to get booked up very quickly. The waiting lists are long, and the prices are usually high. So many tourists choose to stay just outside of the park instead.
There also aren’t any Airbnbs located inside the park itself, but there are loads of Airbnbs and cabins for rent near Yellowstone. So this post will focus on the best options in the surrounding towns. Here’s a quick breakdown of the best places to stay near Yellowstone National Park.
West Yellowstone, Montana
By far your best option outside the bounds of the park is West Yellowstone, a quaint mountain town just minutes from the west entrance. It’s near all of the main Yellowstone attractions including Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic Springs, Hayden Valley, and the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. But the town has its own unique charm too.
Here, you’ll find a selection of lovely restaurants, museums, and shops. As well as tourist information centers and activity starting points. West Yellowstone is a winning choice; and fortunately, it’s full of brilliant Airbnbs.
Island Park
Island Park, Idaho, is a strange but wonderful town, about a 20-minute drive from West Yellowstone. It’s very narrow, but around 33 miles long – making it home to the longest Main Street on Earth.
But aside from obscure world records, the town also offers stunning natural surroundings, including Henry’s Fork of the Snake River. Not to mention many a moose.
Gardiner, Montana
Located just outside the north gate of the park, Gardiner is ideal for anyone hoping to explore Yellowstone’s northern regions. You’ll be situated near Mammoth Hot Springs and Lamar Valley. But be prepared to drive for a little longer to get to the main sights like Old Faithful and Grand Prismatic Spring.
The town itself is tiny, but is home to a number of restaurants and shops, as well as some charming Yellowstone rentals.
Jackson, Wyoming
Jackson is a small city around an hour’s drive south of the park’s southern gate. Nestled in the Jackson Hole Valley, it’s entirely surrounded by nature, and a perfect spot for outdoor enthusiasts.
It’s a very common starting point for many of the best Yellowstone Park tours and activities. And Grand Teton National park is en route to Yellowstone, so you get to experience two National Parks in one trip.
While it’s an awesome city to stay in and explore, it is also a fair distance further from the park than the previously mentioned options. You can expect to drive for at least 2 hours to reach most of the main attractions. You could also read my fun article on Glamping in Montana for more unique accommodation options in the area!
