Planning a Rocky Mountain getaway and searching for the coolest and BEST Airbnb Aspen Colorado stays? Well, look no further, as I’ve compiled this incredible guide to the city’s best vacation rentals, cabins, and unique Aspen Airbnb listings.
Famed for being a Rocky Mountain playground, skiing holidays that look like TV commercials, and slow-motion descents down some of the USA’s finest slopes, Aspen is truly a Colorado gem. Add to that a downtown that competes with the county’s finest in terms of restaurants, bars, and boutique shopping. This ski resort is home to some incredible accommodation options, which I’ve laid out in this dreamy Airbnb Aspen travel guide.
Aspen had humble beginnings as a mining town. Over the years, it became a popular hangout for celebrities and developed as a year-round destination for holidaymakers. Fair warning – Aspen can be expensive. In fact, it’s thought to be the most expensive mountain town in the US.
That’s why Airbnbs are a fabulous option for accommodation. They tend to be cheaper than hotels and offer extra privacy and amenities for travelers. Aspen, Colorado cabin rentals, in particular, are popular as rental options, probably because fewer options are more romantic for couples.
So it is possible to find something that caters to your budget and needs when it comes to an Aspen holiday. And with that in mind, an Airbnb getaway to Aspen is definitely a must-do if you’re looking for the ultimate skiing adventure.

The Best Neighborhoods To Stay in an Aspen Airbnb
Aspen is relatively small, so in a sense, there aren’t particularly distinctive “neighborhoods” to speak of. But Aspen is in close proximity to a few other small communities that do pop up on this list. Here’s a quick guide to those.
- Aspen: While Aspen is small, you may sometimes hear locals talking about The West End (probably the main residential area), The East End, Cemetery Lane, Centennial, and Red Mountain. Most of these span only a few blocks each, and have some unique aspect to them. But they are all fairly close to Aspen’s general center.
- Basalt: A mere 17 miles by road from Aspen, basalt was actually once called Aspen Junction. It’s most notable geographical attraction is the joining of the Frying Pan and Roaring Fork Rivers.
- Carbondale: If there’s a challenger to Aspen at all, it’s Carbondale, which is becoming a very popular summer hotspot for holidaymakers. Carbondale is about 30 miles northwest of Aspen, and perhaps a better getaway to nature in some respects.
- Meredith: A little further on from Basalt lies Meredith. Initially a mining town and lumbar area, Meredith is now considered a resort town – a satellite to the Aspen and Basalt communities.
