The city is primarily known as one of the main gateways to Zion National Park. Less than an hour away by car, the park is one of the most spectacular natural attractions on Earth. Here, slot canyons are carved deep into the rock and cliffs tower high into the sky. The steep red rock faces encircle stunning pinnacles and buttes, jutting out above lush river valleys countless trees.
But the city itself has its appeal, too. Pioneer Park, right next to St. George, is a natural wonderland in its own right, filled with hikes, trails, and climbing routes. And the city offers a range of attractions, from restaurants and shops to museums and theatres. Best Districts To Stay in a St. George Airbnb
The St. George metropolitan area encompasses three other smaller cities on the outskirts of the city proper.
These other city areas are all worth considering as a base for your stay, as none are more than 10 to 15 minutes from downtown St. George. And they’re home to some excellent Airbnb options.
- George: The city of St. George itself is small – it’ll never take you more than 10 minutes in the car to get from anyone point to another. It’s home to plenty of awesome restaurants, entertainment venues, museums, and natural attractions.
- Washington: Neighbouring St. George to the east is Washington. And no, I don’t mean the place where the president lives – it’s a small city of around 30,000 residents. It has a handful of restaurants and stores, with a couple of golf courses. But for most of the action, you’ll want to make the short drive over to Downtown St. George.
- Ivins: Ivins, to the west of St. George, is home to the Tuacahn Amphitheatre – a spectacular open-air affair surrounded by striking red cliffs. It’s one of the main attractions in the St. George area. Other than that, the city of 10,000 provides basic small-town amenities.
- Santa Clara: Nestled between Ivins and Downtown St. George, Santa Clara is the smallest of the bunch. It isn’t much to write home about, but provides effortless access to St. George. As well as the standard necessities.
